1964-66 MOPAR 273 COMMANDO CHROME UNSILENCED AIR CLEANER W/O CAP W/HP VALVE COVERS

DESCRIPTION

                                                                                               Here is a combination set of OEM 273 Chrome Unsilenced Air Cleaner and HP Ribbed Valve Covers.

AIR CLEANER

1964-66 Mopar 273 4V OEM Chrome Unsilenced Air Cleaner. The assembly has been rechromed. Overall, it presents well on the sides and comes with a reproduction Mopar air cleaner service decal. The top shows very minor issues, while the inside has been refinished. There is no provision for CAP, as this was from an earlier car. Comes with a choice of either a 273 Charger decal (Dodge) or 273 Commando decal (Plymouth) loosely installed. The overall chrome rating is a 8.5/10 - it looks very good once installed.

The original base has been refinished and features a 4 1/8" carburetor flange that fits the original Carter AFB carburetors. The interior of the top remains in the factory chrome finish. The updated base features the 5 1/8" carburetor flange that fits most Edelbrock/Holley/modern carburetors with the larger flange and comes with an NOS Mopar perforated air filter.  Note total height of the air cleaner is 4 1/8" from flange to crown.

VALVE COVERS

This is a nice set of OEM Mopar Valve covers prepared for installation on the 64-66 model year LA 273 engines. They have been refinished with black wrinkle paint to match the production year finish. The interior has received a light coat of engine clear -  to facilitate oil return and minimize flash rust. The set comes with a valve cover breather filter and an original PCV valve. All mounting points are straight, as is the gasket sealing surface.  There are typical impressions on the tops/sides of the valve covers with reliefs as well. The spark plug wire loom retainers are new and help to maintain an original appearance. The PCV is part of the CAP system set inside a new grommet. This set features the passenger side with the wiring retaining harness loom - indicative of 66 model year. Note that a few of the bolt holes have been previously repaired - all mounting points are solid and will function as intended.

The tops of the valve covers are fitted with their original aluminum heat dissipation fins  - the Coup de Gras for small block Mopar appearances. Each features the correct new valve cover wire insert slots with no missing flange, as well as the wire loom heat shield (specific to the 66 model year). The aluminum remains in a natural state.

This is a nice set of valve covers that presents well. Best of all, they are genuine Mopar parts!

APPLICATIONS

This assembly is correct for the following 1964-66 273 high performance models without CAP:

Plymouth

Barracuda, Formula S (Commando decal)

Dodge

Dart GT (Charger decal)

It will fit A/B/C-body cars ranging from 62-66 as well with the smaller carburetor flange, but is only correct for 1964-66.  It will also fit 383/413 models as well from this era.

FITMENT

The air cleaner assembly will fit factory 4 barrel carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange such as Holley, Carter AVS, or Edelbrock AFB variations. It will fit older AFB carburetors with the use of an air cleaner adapter (not included). The valve covers fit all Mopar LA small block engines from 64-79. If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.
